AVB1 | VidBuddy
This portable signal tracer accepts digital video, analog video, digital audio and analog audio inputs. The demuxer circuitry is capable of extracting all four embedded AES audio groups (16 mono signals) from the SDI digital video signal. The video signal is displayed on a high resolution (480 x 234) LCD screen while the audio is displayed on a stereo peak program LED indicator and may be listened to by plugging a headset into the unit.

All connections to the VIDBuddy™ are made through the recessed connector panel located on the right hand side of the unit. Connections for video signals are on BNC and audio connections are on XLR-3(F).To connect an unbalanced 75 Ohm AES signal, an IMP-1M impedance converter may be used.

The VIDBuddy™ is designed to operate from AC mains (90 to 230 Volts, 60 or 50 Hz) or from its internal, rechargeable, 12V battery pack. The batteries store sufficient charge for an average of 2 hours of full audio and video monitoring.Demuxing of embedded signals requires the most power. When the unit is plugged into AC mains, the batteries are charged to 100% and charging stops automatically.

Front panel controls are intuitive and selections for monitoring the signal source are made by depressing the appropriate illuminating push button. The headset level control adjusts the volume of the signal that is being listened to.

The VIDBuddy™ comes complete with a padded carry-bag. A front flap opens to reveal the displays and controls while the side flap opens to allow input connections to be made. A convenient side pouch provides storage for the AC cord and optional IMP-1M impedance converter. For use outside the carry-bag, the unit is equipped with rubber feet and a retracting handle.
